Get your pizza craving in a flash with these Mediterranean and Italian-Style easy to make toasties ready under 10 minutes packed with different flavours. Follow the basic steps and customise with your preferred toppings.


 

Preparation 10 mins, Cooking approx 5-6 mins

  • White or brown sliced bread
  • Tomato Passata, to taste
  • Salted capers, a handful
  • Dried oregano, a handful
  • Fresh basil, to taste
  • Cooked ham, to taste
  • Sliced or shredded Mozzarella 
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil, to taste

Method

Preheat the oven to 180C/350 F / Gas 4.

In a bowl mix Tomato Passata with some salt, EVOO to taste.

Brush bread slices with EVOO on one side, place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, toast in the preheated oven for 2-3 minutes.

Mediterranean-style version: 

Spread toasted bread slices with Tomato Passata mixture, top with oregano and capers (plus black olives if you like).

Italian-style version:

Spread toasted bread slices with Tomato Passata mixture, top with grated or sliced mozzarella. Return to the warm oven until mozzarella melts. Remove from oven, top with cooked ham and fresh basil leaves.
